Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy in digital marketing is grounded in the conviction that education must be an active process of learning and becoming by doing — empowering students as emerging professionals rather than passive listeners.
This foundation draws on established learning theory: Vygotsky’s social constructivism frames the classroom as a collaborative community; Gardner’s multiple intelligences honors the diverse ways students understand and process information; and adult motivational theory demonstrates that learners thrive when given autonomy and real-world relevance.
These theories drive my instructional approach. I prioritize project-based learning and authentic assessment over traditional standardized exams. Students tackle hands-on, industry-aligned tasks — developing data-driven marketing campaigns, building analytics dashboards, or consulting for live clients — so they leave with tangible skills and professional portfolios that translate directly to their careers.
G-TAP
I completed Cal Poly Pomona’s Graduate Teaching Assistant Program (G-TAP), a structured pedagogical training program led by Dr. Ruth Ahn. The program covered evidence-based instructional design, student-centered teaching, and equitable classroom practices.
A key experience was our teaching demonstration, developed collaboratively with fellow graduate students, where I deepened my understanding of the deliberate planning required to build inclusive learning environments — anticipating how students from diverse backgrounds interpret questions, and designing lessons that adapt to them rather than requiring students to conform to a rigid plan.
G-TAP helped me translate personal teaching instincts into formalized, research-backed pedagogy. Understanding the science of how people learn has strengthened both my teaching practice and my own metacognition as a graduate student.
